Message from the Florence Nightingale Foundation

The Florence Nightingale Foundation has held an annual Florence Nightingale Commemoration Service at Westminster Abbey since 1965 to celebrate both the anniversary of Florence’s birth and International Nurses Day.

Whilst our annual Florence Nightingale Commemoration Service this year will look slightly different to previous years’ celebrations, we are pleased to announce that we are able to offer you the opportunity to watch the event live online on Wednesday May 12th, 5pm.

Sadly due to COVID-19 restrictions, we will be unable to invite all our supporters, scholars, alumni and friends to book tickets for our 2021 event. The small number of guests in attendance at our socially distanced event have been invited as representatives of nursing and midwifery as well as ambassadors of the Foundation.

It is more important than ever that we join together, albeit virtually, to pay tribute to all the nurses and midwives who have gone above and beyond for us all during the COVID-19 pandemic so please tune in to our commemorative event.

The streaming link can be found by clicking the button below, but if you would like to receive reminders in the run-up to the event, please register your interest here.

White rose appeal

You can show your support to nurses and midwives by donating to our Florence Nightingale White Rose Appeal.

All donations will go towards helping us to continue our vital work, providing scholarships to the best nurses and midwives in the UK allowing them to make a real difference in patient care, policy and practice in their chosen field. As a Foundation, we believe in creating and empowering nursing and midwifery leaders of tomorrow, all of whom are Florence Nightingale’s legacy. Please visit our website to make a donation today.
