King’s Cross Fire Disaster
The 35th anniversary of the King’s Cross Fire Disaster
The 18 November 2022 will mark the 35th anniversary of the King’s Cross Fire Disaster where 31 people tragically died and over 100 people were taken to hospital, with 19 being very seriously injured.
What are your memories of the disaster? Were you working at UCH that night or another hospital involved in the major incident response? Were you involved at the scene? Were your travel arrangements disrupted?
We are keen to hear from people to record their memories and potentially include them in the 2022 UCH London Nurses’ Charity annual magazine. At this stage we are looking for articles that really capture the event and the person’s involvement; how you felt during and after the event; what impact it had; and anything you learnt from the experience. Some patients were in hospital for many weeks requiring numerous operations and the longer-term post-operative and rehabilitation care could also be captured.
Any potential articles should be e-mailed as a Word document. Articles should be 250-900 words and please state that you give consent for your name and article to appear in the magazine and also on the charity website. Please e-mail your contribution to: editor@uchlondonnursescharity.co.uk
Many thanks and we look forward to receiving several interesting articles.
